Burna Boy Reacts To The Future Awards Win

Present music sensation; Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy recently won the award for the “Young Person of the Year”. He won the award at the 14th edition of The Future Awards Africa (TFAA) held on Sunday at The Balmoral, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

African Giant, as he popular refers to himself, after his recently dropped album has reacted to the announcement in good spirit. ‘Oluwa Burna,’ who was the only individual on the night to cart away two prizes, was also awarded the ‘Prize for Music’. He expressed his delight at the win via his Twitter handle on Monday, by thanking the organizers for honoring hard work, diligence, and resilience in the African music and general scene.

Remember that last week, Burna Boy was just nominated for a Grammy in the Best World Music Award category for the Best Pop Vocal Album (Performed/Wrote ‘Ja Ara E’) and his feature on Beyonce’s Lion King: The Gift. Burna Boy has had a smashing year and he has been going from recognition to recognition.

On the back of what has been a superlative 2019 and career upgrade for the “On The Low” crooner, the TFAA win would go a long way in cementing his place as the most successful music artiste of the year. This follows previous wins at the 2019 edition of AFRIMA, the 13th Headies and a grammy nomination among others.

Described as the “Most important awards for outstanding young Africans” by Forbes, TFAA celebrates young people between the ages of 18 and 31, who have made outstanding achievements in the year under consideration.

Last week, Burna Boy was nominated in the Best World Music Album category for ‘African Giant’ in the 2020 Grammy awards. Incredibly, he has two shots at winning his first Grammy award, with Beyoncé’s ‘The Lion King: The Gift’ contesting for the Best Pop Vocal Album.
